Super Vale Abroad Initiative 2023/24

Super Vale Abroad (SVA) proudly announce the launch of this year’s SVA initiative for the 23/24 season. On the back of great success in prior years, we will again be raising funds to help send the next generation of Valiant to watch the Vale in our absence.

Raising over £5,000 since inception, our SVA initiative has provided young Valiants with season tickets, JV memberships, matchday experiences, mascot packages as well as activity packs to local children in the Stoke-on-Trent area during Covid lockdowns.

Anyone who donates £10 (and multiples thereafter) towards the SVA initiative will go into a prize draw to win one of three fabulous prizes (kindly donated by the Vale Foundation) being:

1st Prize a signed Vale home shirt

2nd Prize 2 tickets in hospitality for a PVFC home game (If international winner, prize can be redeemed for when they are in the country)

3rd Prize A mascot package for a PVFC home game (If international winner, prize can be redeemed for when they are in the country)

To confirm: a £10 donation is one entry, £20 is two (and so on…) and is open to all Vale fans both local and international based.

Anyone who wishes to donate can do securely via PayPal on the SVA website: https://supervaleabroad.com/donate (a small fee may apply, out of SVA control).

Donation cut off date is Sunday 31st December 2023 and lucky prize winners will be drawn out of a hat at Vale’s inaugural International Fans Day event at the Portsmouth home game on Saturday 27th January 2024.

Super Vale Abroad and Vale Park Community Initiative fund Activity Packs for local kids

The Port Vale Foundation has been working hard recently in conjunction with Synectics Solutions, The Hubb Foundation and Summit Hospitality to provide for the city during the Covid-19 crisis. This includes delivering food packages to the vulnerable and offering support for teachers in local schools who are currently looking after key worker’s children.

The Port Vale Foundation will soon extend their efforts to include the provision of Activity Packs for local children who are isolated at home and two initiatives that operate through the Foundation to deliver experiences to local kids have both provided funds to help cover the cost of this work.

Super Vale Abroad (SVA) comprises 132 exile Vale Supporters in 27 countries and generates funds, through members’ donations and events at Vale Park.  These funds are then used to sponsor local kids attend home games through either a Matchday Experience or Mascot package co-ordinated and delivered by the Vale Foundation. The schedule for the current season includes SVA sponsorship of over 120 children.

Patrick Scragg who lives in the Central Coast Australia and is the founder of SVA said “With the season suspended and the likelihood that at least some of the outstanding games could be played behind closed doors, we have decided to divert funds allocated to Matchday sponsorship to the provision of Activity Packs. We are very pleased to be able to continue our work with the Foundation to provide positive support to local children during these difficult times and will be doing our best to encourage further donations to help this worthy cause.”

Neil Dawson, Chair of the Vale Park Community Initiative (VPCI) added “Much of our work in delivering small community related projects, including our partnership with SVA, is accomplished through the Vale Foundation working with local schools. We are determined to continue this work despite the current circumstances and VPCI will therefore be adding to the contribution from SVA to further support the cost of the Activity Packs that the Foundation will distribute.”

Head of Community at Port Vale Tom Sherratt and his team are currently working hard behind the scenes putting together the Activity Packs which will include a selection of educational games and fun exercises.  These will then be delivered to local families along with food packages where appropriate.

Tom is delighted with the assistance towards the cost of the Packs and said “We are doing our best to help the most vulnerable and we know that the kids will be very pleased to receive the Activity Packs.  The support that SVA and VPCI are providing is invaluable and will help us to put a smile on lots of children’s faces during these very demanding times.”

Anyone who wishes to join the SVA group and/or make a contribution towards the initiative is invited to contact Patrick Scragg direct via email at supervaleabroad@hotmail.com, or by clicking the link below.

2019 Update from Pat

G'day everyone!!

Ok so I'd like to officially confirm our SVA Initiative is back in play, following the announcement of new owners last week.

To bring you all up to speed with where we stand currently and to put some cards on the table for all to see:

1. I've e-mailed the club to advise them of our stance.

2. I'm over in the UK for a month as of 7 June - I'm hoping to meet with some key people to help us progress with our goal targets for 2019.

3. Now is a great opportunity to throw our support behind Carol and Kevin and raise our profile whilst we're at it! I've asked for contact details and I'm hoping for a meeting whilst I'm over in England.

4. Fundraiser - we're looking at a potential golf day involving current (and former) Vale players. The difficulty is we're yet to confirm a manager and playing squad, so watch this space.

5. Donations - I'd like to encourage EVERYONE (where possible) to start donating to our cause. I'll be throwing £100 in to kick things off - I'll do it in an official manner (hopefully) as part of a press release too!

I'd also love to hear all of YOUR ideas - nothing is stupid or unrealistic to me. I want to put everything on the table when I meet with the club (all being well), so we have as much weight behind us as possible.

Thanks for reading,

Pat
